Design.
Jungle Stone is supremely unique in both its style and design. Weathered wood shingles give this home a distinctive New England flair, but just step out on to the sweeping veranda and you’ll be instantly transported from the bluffs of Nantucket to the sun-drenched coast of the Caribbean. Designed by the recognized architect Michael Helm, whose other tropical homes have appeared in Architectural Digest, Jungle Stone was skillfully crafted to provide a sense of true quality and structural excellence. From the cathedral ceilings to the open breezeway, this high-end villa is the quintessential example of Caribbean elegance. Filled with a multitude of luxurious amenities and state-of-the-art features, Jungle Stone combines the simple pleasures of island life with lavish elements of the modern world. You enter this very private gated estate on a driveway that leads through natural boulders, native stonework, and colorful gardens to the estate’s two villas, Jungle Stone and The Pebble Cottage. Down through a stone archway and blossoming tropical foliage, the antique English doors open to reveal a vibrant custom-designed stained glass panel and the impressive interior of the main villa, Jungle Stone. The main level of the house is comprised of the great room, the kitchen, the loggia, and the breezeway. Looking toward Cinnamon Bay, to the left is the Blue Lagoon Suite on the main level, and the Tree House Suite on the upper level. To the right, above the loggia is the Master Suite, while the Parrot Suite is located on the garden level along with the fitness room. A covered veranda runs the length of the main house and provides access to the sundeck and pool below. Jungle Stone’s multi-level deck space is certainly a highlight of this villa. Sun-drenched decks surround the pool and stainless steel 8-person hot tub, all of which enjoy light tropical breezes and a breathtaking view. Cool off in the shade of the covered veranda, which is equipped for outdoor dining and lounging, or enjoy a sunset cocktail from the beautiful, built-in jungle-style mahogany bar. |

Living Room. From the vaulted cathedral ceiling to the polished teak floor, Jungle Stone’s central living room is classic in its design, but very contemporary in its amenities. Guests will enjoy the state-of-the-art Bang & Olufsen stereo system that includes a 53” plasma TV, DVD, DVR, VCR, CD, radio, internet radio, 100-GB storage containing a wide variety of stored music, an iPod interface, and WIFI internet access. This superb sound system is used extensively throughout the villa, and includes speakers and stereo control in the great room, the kitchen, the loggia, and the breezeway. Jungle Stone also has a great selection of movies and music for media-loving guests. This room isn’t just for indoor entertainment, however – two sets of large pocket doors open out onto the veranda, while two more sets open and provide access to the breezeway. The breezeway is the covered space between the great room and the west bedroom wing, and as the name suggests, this shaded area catches the refreshing tropical breezes. This is a great place to enjoy the gorgeous view and the tropical trade winds, whether you’re sitting at one of the high, bar-style tables, or playing on Jungle Stone’s 14’ customized shuffleboard table! The breezeway also features a set of sliding wrought iron doors that open to a stone patio with seating and access to the estate’s lush gardens. |

The Loggia. For those less familiar with the term, a loggia is an architectural feature that is native to classic Italian villas and is defined as an internal room open to the air. Jungle Stone’s loggia is certainly true to classic Italian style with its magnificent arches and Venetian columns, however it does maintain a distinctive Caribbean flair. Sit back and enjoy the gentle trade winds, as well as the spectacular view of turquoise waters and emerald isles framed by the wide white arches of the loggia, which can also be electronically closed to provide protection from occasional midday drizzles or late-night showers. Although it’s the perfect place to lounge on a lazy Caribbean day, this room is also a wonderful space for formal dining, with a table that has seating for 10. This very unique space is finely finished with comfortable furniture, a custom-built mahogany ceiling, stone floors, and an intricately carved, colorful wooden doorframe that leads to the Parrot Suite below and the Master Suite above. Finally, the loggia features a high-powered telescope that offers a close-up look at the lovely vistas beyond and the starry skies above. |

Dining. Jungle Stone’s main indoor dining area makes up the other half of the villa’s great room. Adjacent to the living room, this formal dining room boasts a cathedral ceiling, teak flooring, and a beautiful, round tropical wood table with seating for 10 under a large chandelier. This space also features a wet bar with a granite countertop, copper sink, built-in mini-fridge, wine cooler, and icemaker, as well as complete sets of colorful Caribbean barware. In addition to its intricate design and décor, one of Jungle Stone’s best features is simply the availability of lovely spaces to dine or relax. There are many lounge areas where guests can relax with a book or a cocktail, as well as a variety of indoor and outdoor dining areas. An outdoor garden patio off the kitchen is an ideal breakfast spot, with bright bougainvillea blossoms that hang from the trellis overhead. For lunch, try the table on the shaded veranda. Cocktails would be lovely at one of the high-top tables in the breezeway, while the adjoining private terrace offers a more quiet and casual dining locale. For dinner, the main indoor dining room is exquisite, though the loggia provides an alternate option for formal dining on warm Caribbean nights with a long wooden table and a distinct tropical atmosphere. |

Kitchen. Just off the great room is Jungle Stone’s spacious gourmet kitchen. With mahogany cabinets, granite countertops, and stone floors, it is beautifully finished and readily equipped for even the most discriminating kitchen connoisseur. Amenities are all state-of-the-art and stainless steel, and include: a 6-burner Professional Viking gas range, 2 Viking dual-burner thermal convection ovens, 2 dishwashers, 2 sinks, microwave, stand-alone freezer, and an oversized refrigerator, as well as a wine cooler and an ice maker installed in the central island. Stored in the additional space of the 10’x14’ caterer’s kitchen are many luxury appliances, including a waffle iron, ice cream and sorbet maker, slushy and snow cone maker, electric juicer, and electric rice warmer. Pocket doors provide access to an outdoor grill and prep area off of the caterer’s kitchen that offers storage in custom-built mahogany cabinets and boasts a 6-burner Viking Professional gas grill with rotisserie and barbeque smoker. Welcome home, Iron Chefs! One of the villa’s two office areas, with high-speed WIFI access, is located in a sunny corner of the kitchen along with a breakfast nook. Just off of this space is a charming epi wood patio, complete with an herb garden, fragrant flower bushes, and fruit trees that make this the perfect place for early morning coffee or a casual meal. |

Bedrooms. There are four bedrooms in Jungle Stone (3 kings, 1 queen, 2 day beds), and one in The Pebble Cottage (king). All the bedrooms have Bose Wave CD/radio sound systems, whisper-quiet A/C, private decks and private bathrooms, and one of the most unique features of the estate is that each bedroom suite is decorated in a distinctive designer style. The Pebble Cottage. Located behind the main villa is the lovely one-bedroom guesthouse known as The Pebble Cottage. This charming addition to the estate fits in perfectly with Jungle Stone’s unique design and eclectic style. Up a flight of coral stone stairs, you’ll find the entrance to this fabulous mini-villa. Guests will adore the Pebble’s retro-chic kitchen with its 4-burner range, refrigerator, and dishwasher – all reminiscent of 50’s style, but actually brand new. Just off the kitchen is a sunny living room with 15’ cathedral ceilings, a flat screen TV, and a sizeable office space complete with a printer, fax machine, Bose Wave CD/stereo system, and WIFI connectivity. 10’x7’ by-folding doors open onto a large screened-in porch, and make this cozy living room very spacious. Screen doors off of the kitchen also offer access to this handsome deck, which has antique-stained floors, comfortable seating for two, and a West Marine gas grill perfect for a small outdoor barbeque. The cottage’s bathroom is equipped with his and hers sinks with cleverly built hideaway mirrors, as well as access to the open-air shower located on the deck adjacent to the master bedroom. The bedroom itself has 12’ cathedral ceilings, a 4-poster king-sized bed, and French doors that lead out to the private porch. Situated at the edge of the jungle with its bright furnishings and West Indian style, The Pebble Cottage is the perfect Caribbean bungalow. |

The Fitness Room. Located on the garden level along with the Parrot Suite is Jungle Stone’s own fitness room. This home gym features a Precor Strength Multi-Station Body Workshop for toning and weight training, as well a Precor elliptical machine and Stretch Trainer. The fitness room has a flat screen TV, Bose Wave CD/stereo system, and A/C. Two sets of double doors open out on to a wrap-around walkway that provides access to a small bathroom, as well as Jungle Stone’s winding garden paths. |

Caribbean Villas’ Views. Located on an oversized lot in the very upscale Catherineburg neighborhood, Jungle Stone is surrounded by National Park Land and enjoys a spectacular view of St. John’s legendary North Shore. Perched high above the blue-green waters of the Caribbean, you’ll realize that you’ve truly found paradise as you breathe in the beauty of the sparkling sea below and the isles beyond. From this estate’s gated entrance to its unspoiled view, Jungle Stone offers ultimate privacy and pristine surroundings for the perfect island getaway. With its superb setting and distinctive style, The Jungle Stone Estate is an ideal vacation oasis for even the most discerning clientele. From the oversized lot and spacious living areas to the villa’s many amenities, Jungle Stone is the epitome of relaxed luxury living. Bedrooms in both the guesthouse and the main villa are very comfortable, and offer plenty of privacy for 3-5 couples. It’s certainly difficult not to love the design of this splendid home, where there is a great diversity of beauty from one room to another. From antique brick and coral stone tiles to tropical hardwoods and granite countertops, it’s clear that nothing but the best would suffice in the construction and design of this fabulous home. In addition to the estate’s spectacular design, both Jungle Stone and The Pebble Cottage boast some of the finest décor on the island. Similar to Kismet and Cinnamon Breeze, the interior of this villa is beautifully finished and sumptuously decorated. The owners worked with a noted interior designer to create a unique atmosphere for this signature home. The theme here is casual chic, and the interior ambiance – a blend of original sculpture and local art with many antiques and period pieces from around the world – evokes a feeling of eclectic elegance. |
